As promised, you would be handing him over to SHIELD. However, that didn’t mean that he was getting away scot free.
You sent a message to Hill informing her of your decision to transfer custody over to her, followed by a more discreet message spell from Rintrah communicating the same thing to Pandora.
You knew that Pandora was a self-proclaimed, accomplished mind-mage, and was probably capable of performing psychic feats that would normally be outside of Madame Webb’s proverbial wheelhouse.
To your surprise, she was quick to make contact with you after the message was sent, teleporting right outside of the ward’s range and pacing impatiently until you came out to meet her.
“What’s this I hear about you having a prisoner that you wanted me to mind-wipe before you hand him off to Hill?” she asked, looking more curious than agitated.
“It’s exactly what it sounds like. I’ve got a Russian spy laid up in my patron’s pad.” you said, jerking a thumb back towards the mansion. “I just figured that you would want to wipe his memory of anything related to me, you or the Silvertongue that we’ve still got locked up in the basement. And let’s not forget the one that Warren’s got cooking in his cloning chamber.”
She frowned slightly at that, but you could tell that you and her agreed that the Chameleon knew far too much already. “You know, I could do a much more thorough job if you’d given him to me for a while before releasing him to Hill.” she pointed out.
You shrugged. “I haven’t given her any headaches to deal with in a while. Transportation, negotiating with the Russian government, extracting secrets, making sure the super spy doesn’t learn anything while he’s locked up. She’s bound to have her hands full with this one.” you said, taking comfort in the fact that it would entirely be her problem, and not yours. “Think I should start including apology notes with my gifts?”
“I don’t think she’s big on fruit bouquets, you’d be better off trying out gift baskets.” Pandora recommended, her tone betraying a slight note of amusement. “She likes coffee cake muffins, by the way.”
You nodded appreciatively. “Good to know. While I try to track down a local bakery, I was wondering if you wouldn’t mind taking a crack at him before Hill messages me back. We’ve probably got an hour or two, at least.”
Pandora gave you an appraising look. “That’s a pretty big request. I’m not sure how much progress I’ll be able to make in such a short amount of time.”
You gave her a flat look. “Oh, come on. You can’t tell me that you’ve never gone behind your boss’s back by mind-wiping one of her prisoners. I bet Hill doesn’t have any teleportation wards in those cells of hers.” you guessed.
