According to canon, dreadnoughts were created before space marines were a thing. However, they are reserved for space marines because of their rarity and the fact that marines are so valuable.
But given a Null is so much more valuable (consider where out of a population of a whole planet there might be a few hundred applicants who will survive to make a few dozen marines - there may be entire systems worth of billions with only one blank) I hope some of those mortally wounded are recoverable for dreadnoughting or robot servitor forms.
Even the dead are potentially useful. A null's skull would make a powerful null servo-skull to aid future fighters, their bones blessed relics of the Mechanica martyr's to banish demons with, while their cremated flesh become Psyk-Out munitions.
Each and everyone of them that dies becomes a holy martyr of the Machine God whose very remains are saturated in blessed nullifying power. Especially when we unlock more secrets of Obsidian and Blackstone to entomb them in.
