The left corner of Edward's mouth is curled upwards; he's clearly proud of what card he has. He might have pocket Aces or an Ace-King.
It's hard to read Moxxie but she's staring HARD at the four cards on the table. She's not sure if she has a good enough hand. Maybe she has a Queen and Jack, trying to make a Straight?
Monifa? Monifa doesn't really have a regular face, so you can't read her at all.
"Raise." Moxxie tosses $25 down.
"Call." You throw another $25. Monifa and Edward all respond with a call, leaving the total pot at $300.
Edward deals the last card. An Ace of Diamonds. Edward can hardly hide the smug smirk he's wearing. Shit, if he has pocket aces, that would mean he has four of a kind. At worst, he has a full house, which beats your flush no matter what.
A sweet, floral smell hits your nose. You can feel the vine hidden in your forearm squirming, as if trying to get your attention. You notice that it's pointing at your cards, trying to drawn your attention back to them.
3 and 4 of Diamonds. Your other Diamond cards are 5, 2, and Ace. That's just a flush, right? Why-
Wait, WAIT, hold on! That's a straight flush! An incredibly weak one, but that doesn't matter; you don't think anyone else can make a straight flush! You won!!!
Okay, okay, Vincent. Calm down. Don't show it in your face.
>2 SUCCESSES!
"Check."
"Check."
"Check."
"Raise." An ear-to-ear smirk crosses Edward's face. "$25."
The other players awkwardly squirm in their seats. Moxxie grits her teeth, and with a sigh, she tosses another $25 into the pot.
You show no reaction to Edward's bet, tossing in another $25. So does Monifa.
Edward is the first to show his cards. As expected, he has pocket aces. An Ace of Hearts and Clubs. "Four of a kind, baby! C'mon, let's see what you guys got!
Monifa throws her cards down. A King of Hearts and a 5 of Clubs. Two pair. She slumps against her chair, groaning about the $100 she just lost. "This-Game-Sucks!!! Augh!!!"
Moxxie shows her cards. A 3 of Clubs and a 4 of Hearts. She had a straight. "Disappointing. I was hoping I would win."
"Alright, Vinny, show us your cards." Edward smirks, waiting to rub his victory in. "What ya got? A high card? A pair? Hard to read with that mug of yours."
You throw your cards down. "Straight Flush. A-2-3-4-5 of Diamonds."
The whole room goes silent. Dozens of eyes are locked onto you. You can feel the intense, piercing stares of at least twenty different ETF agents. You do your best to keep up your impassive mask.
"That wins, right? Straight Flush beats Four of a Kind."
"How did- What the-" Edward's brain short-circuits at the sight of your hand. The only hands that could beat his Ace Four of a Kind were a Straight or Royal Flush; no wonder he thought he was going to win.
You calmly collect the $400 lying on the table. You won it fair and square; that's just how the game went.
