>>6286972As the Death Knight lumbers towards you, lurching into action, Saoirse takes the initiative. The girl is undeniably fast. In an instant, she’s closed the gap between her and the phantom. Her strange blade lashes out against her foe, colliding with the ebon leg armor it wears. But the weapon hardly makes a dent. The First Sword certainly lacks the sort of strength that you and Uriyan possess, but you suspect that was not the only factor at play here. This creature was possessive of considerable physical defenses that would be difficult to smash through. But you had an answer for that.
The Death Knight raises its sword above its head and brings it crashing down on Saoirse. The sheer weight of the weapon kicks up a mountain of dirt and stone, however, not only has Saoirse somehow come out completely unharmed, but she stands on the creature’s very blade itself. She runs up its giant length and launches herself towards the phantom’s head, striking at it once more. As her sword lashes at its cheek, she activates the Crest of Indech once more. Suddenly standing atop the Death Knight’s helmet, she plunges Mercurius down.
Impressive foot and bladework both. However, at the rate this was going, you wouldn’t reach the tower until sundown.
>Death Knight: 179/200 HPAn axe goes flying into the Death Knight’s shoulder, shattering its pauldron and forcing the creature to take a step back. The spinning axe returns to Uriyan’s hands just as quickly as he threw it. The Almyran laughs heartily as he once more lets Helswath go sailing through the air. This time around, the phantom’s shieldbearing arm is removed. It crashes to the floor, bubbling and smoking as it vanishes from existence.
>Death Knight: 137/200 HPThe phantom howls in rage, giving you a newfound appreciation for Cassius’ own spirits. They may not be as powerful as this monster, but at least they were quiet, and didn’t have the tendency to turn on their master. It cocks its sword arm back, but you already have your Bolt Axe out, and are eager to finally try it out. You lift your axe to the sky, and as you do, several bolts of thunder come crashing down onto the Death Knight. Your hunch was correct. For all its physical prowess, it lacked the same in magical resistance. Hah! That was always how these things worked, wasn’t it?
>Death Knight: 39/200 HPWhat? Still not dead? The phantom is brought to its knees as thunder courses through its form, but it still holds the blade high above its head. Seeing no sense in holding back, you activate your Crest of Indech. You swing the Bolt Axe towards the Death Knight, sending a surge of lighting that causes the creature to be launched out of the fortification you’d been fighting in. It lands on the ground outside in a puff of black smoke, disappearing for good.
