>>5352688“You really don’t mind getting the shit beaten out of you?” Matt sighs, knowing there’s no escape from your stubbornness. "This might get bloody reaaallyyyy fast..." He tries again.
You shrug. Whatever Matt throws at you can’t be worse than anyone else you’ve fought against.
“There is no way this can possibly go wrong…” He mutters sarcastically. “Let me run you through the basics at least.”
With that, Matt explains to you the barest basics of how to swing, parry, and block a sword. While it's easy to commit the moves to memory in the same vein you learn new fighting techniques, the use of something that is not your fists or fins leaves you feeling a bit out of your element.
Matt, on the other hand, moves with far more confidence where the weapon is concerned, but you chalk that up to his affinity with weapons in general.
When you ask, he tells you, "Kinda just read up on it-- honestly seems like a bat with extra steps to me." The two of you then take your positions, face-to-face with each other.
It's a little hot out but not oppressive, the sun gleaming down on your swords and reflecting on the grass below.Taking a fighting stance, you hold your blade out in front of you, stealing a quick glance to Matt to see just how he's holding his sword.
"Ready?" He asks from across the grass, a cold, calculative calmness filling his eyes.
Wordlessly, you nod, and that's all the incentive your brother needs to come slashing at you with vicious intent.
