"We'll see. We should probably talk to the others before we start doing any plans, partner." You get out of the room as quickly as possible. He follows right after you, clearly sharing your unwillingness to stay in this room. You need to find a way to get him to spill his guts without him locking up completely. That's going to be hard but you'll have to try.
You're soon back at the lobby with him and your other allies. Maruyama has taken to reviewing the various paperwork he found over Avalon in an attempt to pitch something together. Kiara is...you don't want to question why she's pinning random pictures she took to a wall.
Kiara turns around when she hears you coming down the stairs, "Oh! Are we going to go already?" A whine crackles out of her voice box. She tries her best at flashing some puppy dog eyes. "I was just done setting up my board..."
"No, no, we're not leaving yet. I felt we should discuss something before we left."
"YES- Wait, about what? There's not a lot TO talk about. We gotta go see that anomaly and get pictures of it!" Kiara crosses her arms. "Do you know how hard anomaly picture submissions are to come by-" She gets interrupted by Gregory's chuckling.
"Trust me, she's doing it." The old man fails at holding back his amusement at what's happening. "No need to worry. I am curious what you wish to discuss, Nicole."
"I think it's about time we stopped playing games, <span class="mu-i">Gregory.</span>" You hiss out that last part for emphasis. You're not quite sure how to feel about him but playing tough is probably a good place to start. "I know you're hiding something. You're not hiding it very well."
Maruyama quickly jumps into the conversation, "I get that he's weird. The no shoes thing and the annoying fucking way he says hello and all of that. But hiding something?" Maruyama forces a laugh out. "He's a rich guy. Of course he's hiding something. What, is he cheating on his wife? Tax evasion?"
"Not that I know of," Though you wouldn't be shocked. "I just know he's not being candid with the real reason for hiring us."
<<span class="mu-b">"You can play this off. They don't have to know."</span>> "You already know why I hired you. It's to get shots of the place around you!" Gregory tries his best to flash a disarming smile. "The anomaly has complicated things but I am willing to pay extra if that's the concern!"
"There was that Krakatoa who worked here." Kiara immediately switches from her puppy dog tone to something more level and collected. "That was quite an odd coincidence. Aren't you a director too? It's weird how you just so happened to have jobs in the filming industry."
Gregory keeps up that smile while he tries to keep his voice calm and neutral, "That's a flimsy connection. I wasn't even working here, was I? Perhaps it's a simple trick of fate that another one was working here in the past."
Maruyama puts down the paperwork he was reading. "Speaking about the anomaly, your reaction to it was weird. Almost like you saw it before."
