This weapon is uncommon in civilian or urban engagements, because firing a laser in the absence of protective eyewear or specialised combat helms can blind everyone in the vicinity. The military grade laser has good effect on any single target, human, organic, synthetic, exoarmour or even war mechs. Whilst some specifications permit variable yields, this laser is calibrated to melt everything. In environments with a lot of debris (eg sandstorms, or occasionally even some smoke-filled urban battlegrounds) flecks and ghost image backscatter can attenuating laser targeting, causing beam distortion. Continuous wave mode operation of the diode head can also lead to thermal bloom.
