- He's an amateur botanist, a leftover from a small window garden his family kept so they could have fresh vegetables occasionally. On long campaigns he’ll set up a small plot with a few local flowers or vegetables to make his area feel more homey (Some of his men even join him in this).
- His family didn’t have enough money for books, but they did get some encyclopaedias to try and round out his education with all the gaps in schooling he had. He still remembers a lot of useless trivia from those days. All the useful stuff he’s already had hammered into him from his job so it’s mostly good for winning trivia nights when people think he’s too drunk to remember things.
