The ominous tunnel looms. You decide the best way to explore it further is to go inside- but a bit too unknown and dangerous to go in by yourself right now. Instead, you will send in your own little rover- like you're exploring another planet.
Over the next few days, you purchase a simple RC car with a build in camera that can feed its video directly to your phone with an App. This is more useful then setting up an entire computer station, and much more helpful then running a cable down the tunnel- if you even had one that went that far. Not that you know how far it goes. You take the car for a test drive in your apartment's parking lot to make sure it works and you can record it, and soon enough on your next day off you set up in the storage closet, ready to send the car inside.
Using the remote, you guide the car straight down the tunnel. It's wide enough that the small car can easily turn around, but it's still best to try and keep it centered for navigation purposes. You aren't exactly sure how you can get lost in a straight tunnel like that, but this makes it easier.
"Alright guys..." you say to the RC car as it ventures into the darkness. "...Here we go."
You inch the car forward, just in case something like a bump in the floor or a sudden drop would mess up the car and flip it over. You don't really have a way to retrieve it if that happens, so you need to be careful. Going through the darkness slowly, the car has gone roughly 30 feet in. You can see its bright light from the outside of the tunnel still. You keep going and going- the car's light getting dimmer to you as its swallowed by the tunnel. It keeps going.
Soon enough, you reach about the RC car's maximum range. You can't see its light in the tunnel anymore. On the camera feed, you see something very strange. The bright light still shows the tunnel clearly, but up ahead along the path is something strange. It almost appears as the walls of the tunnel and the floor are just... gone. Like there is a big opening into nothing at the end of the tunnel here. You're extremely curious, but you'll risk losing your rover if you go any further. But you can't stop here...
You really want to gauge how far away this is. You think you should yell down to the tunnel to see how it sounds- maybe it will get picked up by the camera microphone, or maybe not. What should you yell down?
>Yell "HELLO?"
>Engagement "WOAH GUYS YOU SEEING THIS???"
>Stay quiet just in case
