And on and on, Wirt’s thoughts swirled, revolving around wellspring, why can’t they understand, and the implications he refuses to understand. When he crosses a minor brook, he refuses to look at it- whether it be from the fear of the bubbling water, or what reflection he’ll see, he cannot rightly say. Only that his thoughts slowly, inexplicably, started spiraling downwards, like…. Like….
Wirt’s pace slowed, and then he stopped, at the heart of the cavernous glacier of Darkwood. He shivers, yet it’s not the ice around that chills him.

‘That wellspring was magical? Hmmm.’ The snowhare thought. It was an unusual hare- where most fled from predators, this one always took joy in tricking them, even with the risk of being eaten if he got caught. Had to be one step ahead of the competition…
So, using the his life’s hoard of licks and crystals, he bribed one of the scarred marines floating nearby to take him to this wellspring, so he may dip the delicious salt licks in it. The marine, having nothing left, agreed.
Needless to say, they survived the process, though the results were dubious. The salt developed a citrusy undertone, and some of bouncing crystals glowed as if a miniature sun, vibrating intensely.
An inauspicious precursor, to a coming trend.
