I was thinking recently about Half-Elves, also those bizarrely tall, bald sterile Mul dwarf-human mule / slave barbarian hybrid species crossovers from Dark Sun rpg, just researching the concept and wondering if anyone could make it a bit more realistic by incorporating some more rigorous concepts from Mendelian inheritance, hybrid vigour / heterosis etc. (The fact that the Mul race in Dark Sun is taller and stronger than humans when crossbred with slave dwarfs is actually quite interesting and compatible with the genetic theory of heterosis / outbreeding enhancement) I remember one time I randomly wrote something on qtg about Norwegian horse baiting battle mating rituals and then some anon created a Horse Quest, that was probably entirely just a timing coincidence lol but anyway, I just like this picture of a zebra horse. I became fascinated with equid hybrids after reading Gilgamesh and discovering that the ancient text predated human domestication of horses (I think their beast of burden was something called a kunga? it was a sort of proto horse/donkey mule onager thing?) so I just thought it was a cool detail to remember for any primordial or primitive swords and sorcery setting. What I especially like about the concept of the zebra horse is it is sort of the culmination of experimental, unnatural, coerced copulation; essentially the zebra horse is a visual representation of rape
