Hawkodesh really wishes that you commit to Anu, doesn’t he? It’s obvious given his status as an angel, but his words don’t wash away your doubts. Not a single bit…
Sure, you DID accept to be Anu’s champion, and by taking his blessing and powers you gave him influence over you one way or another – not that you were in a good place to refuse anyway-... however, none of this means you HAVE to be an actual worshipper. You didn’t kneel the first time you met him, so why would you do now? Besides, it’s not just the idea of bending the knee what bothers you. Daitza is right – praising Anu may give him free pass to take your freedom away without you even noticing… and that’s a BIG no.
Still, you also have to consider that Daitza may be exaggerating a little bit. Her intuition can be surprisingly accurate, but this often leads her to be stubborn in having things her way. Maybe she’s just paranoid after Gnolrek’s betrayal? You have to admit you are, too… but Gnolrek is not Anu. As weird as it is that he wishes to be loved like a son loves his dad, he doesn’t strike you as a god that would be okay with messing with his followers’ free will. Hell, you’re not sure if he COULD. These humielets wouldn’t be so astray from his path otherwise, right…?
Seriously, what’s the worst that could happen from sitting on your legs and saying a few words of praise for a boon? You doubt such a simple act would make you lose your Independence. This whole inner monologue you’re having seems a bit dumb when you look at it that way. Ah, what to do, what to do…
