"Someone took the room we usually sleep in?"
Ryan nods.
"We got a big influx of people. No more guest rooms. Sorry."
"Don't be, I get it."
Even though you never wanted to join up with the Dogs of War, you really did appreciate that there was always a chamber set aside for you, as a guest. You have no idea whether it was a practical concern, or if it's another spiteful act from Wind to distance himself further from you and your influence.
"I'm sure that if you stay over again, we can find a solo one to set aside for you."
"Mhm."
You don't bother loading yourself into every partition, there's no need to see the insides of the rooms. You're more concerned with the structural damage. Fortunately, it's all minor, and most of it has been paved over. You come across a group of recruits helping to seal a crack in the floor.
<span class="mu-s">"Hey, this is where we fought those Espimon. The real quiet ones."</span>
Ryan turns around abruptly.
"That reminds me... Did you two see anything weird after beating them?"
"I was podded, remember? Or, uh, suspended. Porcupamon took them all out."
<span class="mu-s">"Nothing weird, no. I think I zoned out a little. Why?"</span>
"Just one of the reasons why Wind was so upset. After you left, an Espimon tried to sneak out."
"No way. There was one lurking?"
"And he suspects that Hi-Commandramon left that one behind as a spy. I don't know. Do you think he would?"
You shake your head.
"I can't discount anything, but no, it seems out of character. Maybe it was just hiding? Never mind that, what happened to it? It didn't get away, did it?"
"It didn't, F- Kaus Gammamon managed to kill it. But it was a whole big thing. Wind was already livid that day, but it got even worse once he realized we almost lost everything AGAIN. And it was the fact that you let those guys back into the Network that opened up this opportunity."
You tap your foot on the ground uneasily.
"... I really should talk to him, huh?"
"I'll message you when he's back."
And speaking of messages, Squid finally gives the two of you the go-ahead. You both check your notifications at the same time, then cut your conversation short and return to the workshop.
