>>5334657Do large scale plasma guns (the ones that fire blobs or beams) need ammo? I know the small infantry ones are described as using charges but that's to give them mobility. I was under the impression fluffwise you could just hook the big ones up to a large enough energy source like a ships generators or power station to fire them.
In any case, I think QM has also indicated that for all of Talos Genius, and for all the Crusade Forces, we're still woefully behind the best that the 40k Admech Can offer, let alone the 30k one. Meltas, something which would be ubiquitous in 40k, are still seen as "unregulated" and untested technology by our council. This makes sense since the Imperium/Mechanicum is still small and hasn't reunified much of the Galaxy.
We haven't even reclaimed Ryza yet and they were the masters of Plasma Tech.
We shall have to first work hard to reach 40k Mechanicus levels of sophistication, and then harder to reach the peak of 30k Mechanicum kino. One day we will even have to work on creating the Taghmata themselves, which were described as being the primary arm of the Mechanicum and larger than the Skitarii. Which makes sense since you can mass produce robots and scatter some people to oversee them, rather than using the masses of people themselves alone and since cloning is proscribed. But it requires a level of sophistication where steel is cheaper to make than flesh, which we aren't at yet I think.
Also it turns out I was wrong earlier, the Taghmata aren't so much the 30ks name for the Mechanicus Forces including the Skitarii, but a separate force entirely. They, the Skitarii, and the Legio Titanica form the "Triad-Magna". Inside the Taghmata include the Legio Cybernetica, Ordo Reductor, and Mechanicum Questoris. Knight houses that have sworn themselves soley and only to the Mechanicum, and are separate from the Questor Imperialis who have more featly (at least in lip service) to the Imperium.
I wonder if we can convince Navarro and Borgius to become Mechanicum Questoris instead of Questor Imperialis, if they aren't already.
The Taghmata also includes a lot of civilian structure not present in 40k, where 40k has this sort of separation of Forge and State thing going on, the Taghmata include equivalent terms for Planetary Governors (Archmagos Intendant) and such so larger territories are governed by the Mechanicum, rather than just the forge worlds. This is something I think we could first implement in the Lucius Federation.
But yeah, we got a LOT of work to do to achieve the best the Mechanicum is capable of. Let's pray we can see that in this quest and aren't outshone by canon
