A test: for people on mobile, is something like this discernible or is everything too blurry / cluttered / low resolution?
The issue with this virtual tabletop app is that it downscales even the highest resolution images (I think it has to do with grid scaling for miniatures) it makes everything look like no antialiasing lol videogame settings. Can you see constellation borders, the system names or even distinguish between the starships? The main problem is space is too dark and too big. I am trying to find spaceships that are against bright planetary backgrounds (because the default spaceship look, metal grey against black lol is impossible to see). It might be too much trying to cram planets and starports and capital ships and asteroid outposts onto one map, what I can do is load a separate constellation system map for local battles (even in the equirectangular projection, there is just too much). Also, the idea is that this annotated map is the riftspace magic star travel map. I might use pretty nebulae pictures for the actual space scenes instead.

The travel thing I have in mind is as follows
1/ Default is ONE move to an adjacent system per turn (ie hop over to any bordering constellation). Travel anywhere intra-system is free, does not require a turn. Bear in mind the nature of the equirectangular map projection, it wraps around etc and the zones are distorted near the top and bottom
2/ There will be some syndicates similar to the Heighliners in Dune. You can pay them for instantaneous travel to any system - excluding some interdicted / sanctioned territories. The prices may vary but it will generally be fairly cheap. I am still coming up with names for these syndicates hmmm
3/ Finally, (engage QM troll mode lol tee hee hee) you can manually enter coordinates into your ship computer. What is required is the following
R RA DEC of any star in your current location system
R RA DEC of any star in your target destination system
distance in light years separating them (you must calculate this...! muahahaha)
I have done this it is only moderately painful, you just need to do some converting into cartesian coordinates and radians and spherical trigonometry muahahaha. If you choose this method you can travel anywhere (including blockaded systems / conflict zones!) in one turn
