A long time ago I saw a light show exhibition by Ryoji Ikeda, in a London car park lol. It was an incredible experience, the entire exhibition space was pitch black but it was like standing inside a particle accelerator. Often with videogames the plasma, laser and fire effects just look like colourful orange decals lol shooting out of a muzzle, or a pasted lightning FX stencil lol they never fully capture that luminous bloom of light diffusing in blackness and the suspended flecks and shades of mist and smoke straying into the flare of the lightbeams. I like to watch light exhibitions and also some rave videos lol when I think about magic in games, like those copper vapour lasers from the Prodigy music performances, I think this is what magic would truly look like
