The Knight found himself fighting at all angles. Unlike before where the Ruin of the Slayer God implanted into the armor’s chest was simply urging him to go forth and kill something that was the enemy of the good races of this world, now it was seeking out the blood of all the Skaven who were trying to kill the Knight.
Lucian did not mind and infact found that he welcomed the power that was coming into him because of the sheer amount of rats. So thick were their numbers that a single slice by Lucian’s blade was killing six of their number with a single swing. The black blood only stained his armor darker as he rounded his weapon for another swing that took six more of their lives for his count.
The power of the rune roared within his chest as he became closer to the manifestation of Morr and Grimnir matted together. The wrath of Grimnir tied with the sheer lethality that the Death God could manifest upon the ground.
However many he was killing Lucian did not know. What he knew was the terror written across the faces of those that were facing him as they barely raised a weapon to stab into his armor. These poor fools, he realized, had been pushed forward by those falling in the rear that pushed them towards him to exact their final death.
How had so many of them hidden from him? It must have been the muck and the tunnels. The rats must have taken advantage of the dirt tunnels already existing in Bastonne and expanded them into a network only the rats they were could truly understand. What made it even more prefered was that no Peasant was going to go down into the sewers without need and the Nobles would scoff at the sheer notion of dirtying their armor.
The sewer will surely be running black by now. He could hear roars of might from both above and below his head as he tried to slaughter as many of their kind as he could give. The rune within his chest screamed that he should fully give into the wanton slaughter of the slayer god yet Lucian found himself hesitating to accomplish such a feat. If he was to assume such fury it would only be the firelight of the rune lighting the way for him.
The others were holding themselves at the well light, Adok and Wigmar fighting back to back as they tried to keep back the terrors from the deep.
