>>5422503>The vision fades. You open your eyes. The sunlight pours through the ceiling. You are lying in the pool, your head comfortably propped up against its edge. You glance around - the servants stand quietly in the shadows. They seem calm and respectful. You turn back the other way, and see the jug and straw still comfortably in place. Everything is as it was before the vision. Did you imagine it all?
You raise a hand out of the water and hold it up to your face. What seemed so real just moments ago now becomes another memory in your mind. It's rather funny, that you could have conflated those images with reality. You watch the muscles flex in your hand as you curl your fingers, see the ligaments under the stretching skin, see the little creases and hairs that line your wrist.
You remember everything you saw. Recalling the experience, you picture the machine. Four, no, five men tall, and twice again that length. You did not learn everything, you know, but you feel you learned enough. You will need wood, hides, twine ropes, stones.
The door opens, and you know who it is that comes into the room. He bows as slaves file in behind him.
"My Lord's robes are prepared. Shall we begin?"
