TalOS took a moment to think to himself about it,examining his own people in comparisons to the numerous other civilizations that were found by the Federation and Imperium. It was an introspective and with all introspectives it was hard to really consider what was to be considered.
In the end it took the mind of a Tech Priest to take into scale the events of things. Even with the mind of a Primarch it was hard to look inside and compare oneself to others. Thus was the discipline afforded by being a Priest that TalOS was able to really look at himself.
Even for a Primarch TalOS had to think for a minute. While such a time was not uncommon with Tech Priests who might allow weeks before a proper response could be form, his brother was not one who expected such things. He gave a smile as the wait continued figuring out what was happening.
“The reason we do this is not because we wished for it. We are not cannibals because we believe cannibalism will bring us closer to the Machine God.” TalOS said first off as he picked up the now cooled food, “The reason we do this is because of history. Because of Old Night.”
Vulkan gave a thoughtful nod and a sign for his brother to continue. TalOS was more than happy to oblige.
“During the times of strife food quickly became scarce. Mars, even though it sat next to the heart of the Terran Federation, did not sit in a system that could support agriculture. Terra at this point was a hellscape of warring tribes with the planet barren from massive wars and water-pirates, thus we could not look outside for help.” TalOS took the flesh within his hand and placed emphasis on it, “Thus we were led to this to satisfy the most basic needs of man.”
“Food and Water.” Vulkan correctly summarized as he gave a small chuckle.
“Yes.” TalOS took a bite out of the food as the vox caster within his next continued, “You must understand that while Corpse Starch is what allowed us passage through such a troubling era. While it uses humans, it also uses grox and plant matter. It is an efficient manner that all material is used and disposed of without the risk of disease. The last reason I think is similar to your own home.”
