"Being in the same area as so many tortured souls... I had a feeling that would've been her fate." Ayane sighs. This wasn't news you wanted to deliver to her, but since this was big enough to affect everyone it wouldn't be fair to keep her in the dark. "Thank you for telling me, Master. Despite this, I will not falter." She looked at you with a warm determination, but underneath the table her hand clasped yours for support.
"So Aneko doesn't exist anymore? That's messed up." Bertha says.
"I don't think that's how it works, mate." Cattleya begins to reply to the warrioress but is interrupted.
"Corruption can merge people in that sort of way..." Herta mutters unhelpfully.
"The souls that make up a Poltergeist will disperse once it's defeated. There's two types of Poltergeists: the kind made up of spirits and the kind made up of emotions." Yumi clarifies. "The spirit-types aren't really conscious when they're like that, so you can tell your fox girlfriend to stop worrying, Savant."
As she went on to explain what she knows about Poltergeists, Mel comes by. Still tired, but as optimistic as ever.
"Master..." Ayane looked pleadingly at you. She wants her niece's spirit to be at peace.
"I know." You reply to her.
"On the bright side, we don't know if she was in there or not! Who knows, Aneko's probably in heaven by now drinking wine and stuff." Mel said, trying to brighten the mood.
"About the zombie goblins," your Cat changes the subject. "Does anyone think they'll get on well with the proper goblins?"
"From what I've read, no." Ruby said. "But we can expect more undead to emerge in this region regardless of what we do in the future."
"Yeah," Herta added. "Undead tend to at most be neutral with other monsters at best. The last time undead worked together with anyone was when the Demon Lord united all monsters against the living."
"I've been able to purge a nest of undead before." Gerty says confidently. "If we destroy the source they will eventually stop appearing."
"Wait," Bertha said, looking at Yumi cautiously. "Does that mean ghosts are evil too? Since they're undead?"
"WHAT!" Yumi shouted from her crystal. "I am NOT a filthy corpse or a mindless skeleton!"
"Depends on who you ask." Rose responded with a shrug. "I've heard some ghosts and skeletons are rather noble hearted. Yet I doubt a Poltergeist or a Shade would be willing to talk things out over biscuits and tea."
"I don't remember that many ghosts appearing after getting rid of goblin villages." Gerty says, bringing the conversation back. "This sounds like the product of dark magic..." She stands up, only to bow headfirst. "Forgive me, Master!" This again? "I was the one that insisted we leave the orc. I will not make any excuse for myself for such a blunder." She says with a tinge of lust. Though at the same time seeing a beautiful woman desire you so much felt pretty nice.
