Dressed in the look of a classical Immortal aristocrat, I began heading out of the Bunker. On my way out, Hale was walking to the Command Center past me and noticed.
[HALE] "Going out again?"
'To Oakville, to grab something for Catastrovania.'
[HALE] "Oakville... Ahh! This is a premium chance. I was thinking to send an errand boy there myself. I need a bottle from the Maximum Wine store. I have it ready to order, they know I'm sending a pickup. It was for a bottle of four seventy-one zero Pira Riserva. It's a gift for Kurt, his birthday is tomorrow you know, four hundred and one years old. I wanted to congratulate the lad, and it just so happens his family is from Oakville."
'Ah. I'll grab it then on my way back. Just tell them who to expect.'
[HALE] "Nobody would mistake the lime haired Immortal, when she wants them to! Haha! I'll see it done. Have a safe trip now."
I headed out, and eventually got on an express train to Oakville.
[ OAKVILLE TOWNSHIP ]
When I arrived later in the day, I got off the train at the station and came to the sight of a place where rustic tradition was fading fast. Oakville Township was the place where Woldorian culture was changing most in the world.
It was like Eikrise, yes, architectural tendency askew slightly, but the main attraction of this town was the long boardwalks and piers it had over the long and wide crescent rivers of the crested peninsula it sat on. That and the walkable streets. It had corridor roads lined with brick walkways, shops and restaurants. It was a nice place to be.
I saw some other traveling Shengesian Immortals here every now and then. I even saw what I believed was a few of the Woldorian Mythics, out to do things besides worship Woldor in their warlike ways. Their laughter was loud and boisterous. I did particularly stand out, but not as badly as I thought I might. Fashion senses with the kids here are certainly different from other places in Siegesia. Hair dyes and ripped jeans, is what I mean. Hoodies and beanies were popular. I heard laughter and talk all around, people were happy.
Ah, but, there's always one person who isn't.
[DOWNTRODDEN] "Please! Please! No! You've got to reconsider!"
[???] "I'm sorry, Elberten, but those animals are mine. Besides, it shouldn't matter much to a poor, helpless family like yours what happens to those rabbits or not. After all, it is with my blessing you get to continue your sodden lives in the old home."
I saw a man begging, coming just out of an alley between the shops with a gentleman who was finely dressed in a red suit, carrying an umbrella hooked by his arm.
[DOWNTRODDEN] "But.. but if you take all those rabbits... my grandmother's life and pride, her poor old heart won't be able to take it! She might die then and there! Besides the house, those rabbits are all we have!"
[???] "They'll make a good stew, I'm sure."
[DOWNTRODDEN] "EEYYYHHH! You c-can't just eat them!"
