“I’m not weird, I’m just energetic!” Flexing with these long sleeves doesn’t cause the same effect as before when you used your old police uniform. You should be careful, weird habits are coming back with Vanessa around.
Congratulations, Kobashi, you just admitted to yourself that you’re weird! Where do you go from here?! Huh?! …As long as you don’t say it out loud, you’ll be fine. Probably.
“Why do you look down, big weird man?” Marcela notices that your flexing lost all energy.
“Can we refrain from calling fine individuals like ourselves pejorative terms…?” This is what a lifetime of being called names does to a man, you have to beg to get some respect.
“Hey, I was saying it earnestly!” Marcela is having fun at your expense.
“That’s worse.” You shake your head. “Forget it, I’ll read the letter instead.” You open the envelope…
There’s not much to say about its appearance, it’s pink which isn’t common. You don’t know why but you expected it to be handwritten, but it isn’t. Machine or human, the message is the same. Time to read it.
“Delivery girl, if you’re reading this, I’ll let you know I will find out and there’ll be consequences for this act of vandalism. Just lead these papers to their rightful recipient.”
This warning message seems hardly necessary…
“What an obnoxious thing to write.” Marcela comments on the letter’s contents. You take back what you just said.
“D-Do you mind?” You pull the letter closer to your chest.
“It’s not a love letter, who cares if I take a snippet or two?” Marcela doesn’t see what’s wrong with breaching people’s privacy. “I trusted you and came over, the least you could do is show me what the letter has.”
“You have a point!” Trust goes both ways. You continue reading…
“Detective Kobashi, if you let the delivery girl read this message alongside you, there’ll be grave consequences for you too. This is a private matter.”
Now you’re being threatened…
“Is he serious…?” You find it a tiny bit humorous for it not to be the case.
“I can assure you the guy has a strange sense of humor.” Marcela shrugs, leaving the decision to you.
“We’ll be fine then…” You want to say this, but knowing that spirits roam the earth, his words might carry a curse.
