“Answer me this, does Professor Bombastus have a green spirit in his possession?” You decided to keep it simple.
“A green spirit…?” Dorothy is startled by your question.
“Like a green will-o-wisp!” Marcela plays with her hands to mimic the movement of a flame.
“I’m contractually obligated to not disclose any information about the research I’m taking part of.” Dorothy replies without a second thought. Same as Ema. Did the Professor make them memorize those statements word for word…?
“Nobody said anything about any research.” You don’t like how quickly she shot you down.
“Oh! How did I not notice! You’re correct, Kobashi!” Vanessa is in shock…
“But now we know it is related.” Marcela won’t let that detail slide. Bombastus’s research has to do with the Ignis Fatuus.
“Oh please, don’t jump to conclusions.” Dorothy adjusts her glasses. “Regardless, divulging any information about the Professor counts as a breach of the agreement. A lifetime of work is at stake here.” Dorothy knows she can answer your question. “Point is, if you want to know anything about the professor, you should talk to him instead.”
“That’s not how the contract works, Dorothy…” You won’t be tricked by legal mumbo-jumbo. “Please, it’s just a yes or no answer. People’s lives are in danger.”
“I find that difficult to believe…” Dorothy plays dumb. “And your insistence makes me believe you’re planning to interfere with the project if I happen to answer your questions.”
“Ask yourself this, princess: Where did the professor find the Ignis Fatuus? Oh, outrageous wow, he stole it from us! Can’t you believe it?” Marcela gets agitated and sarcastic, what a combination.
“D-Don’t besmirch the Professor’s good name. He might be an odd individual, but I believe in his character. He’d never resort to petty crimes to achieve our great goals.” Dorothy takes something out of her purse... “I’ll let you know this device allows us to locate strong concentrations of Spiritual Energy. Deduce the reason why I showed it to you all. Pardon me, but I have had enough, Good afternoon, everyone. C’mon, Dan.”
“Until next time…” Dan nods and follows the angry scientist.
“Do I know him…?” Vanessa feels the man is familiar…
Both leave the building without giving you any answers.
