>>5810524“Chaya...” you mutter to yourself, wondering what she's doing. But can only think of one thing to do, and reach back out to her. “Chaya, what's going on? You can tell me, kiddo.”
“Not now Dad, I'm-” she starts, but you're not having it. You're getting to the bottom of this.
“No, something's wrong kiddo, I can feel it.” you interrupt her, stopping her in her tracks. “Tell me, what's going on? I can't help you if I don't know what's happening.”
For several seconds she's quiet, not answering you. For a moment you feel her pull back, as if she's going to end the mental link. But then you feel it, a wave of worry and despair wash over you from her.
“He-He's gone!” she then pours out, , your daughter's emotions crashing on you like a wave. “My Raditz, he...He's just GONE!”
“Gone?” you ask, remembering what he'd told you the day before. And it seems that he hadn't told your daughter that he was leaving either.
“GONE! He just vanished at some point last night, I can't find him!” she exclaims, her mind a raging mix of furious emotion. I checked the flight logs, I checked with King Vegeta, Bardock, the dock workers, everyone! No one knows anything!”
“I see. Have you tried reaching out to him?” you ask her, to which you feel her anger rise.
“I did! He's blocked me, the bastard! He won't let me connect to his mind anymore, he's got me completely shut out!” she exclaims, surprising you. You hadn't known it was possible to completely block someone out indefinitely. But, after a moment's thought, if anyone would have figured that out it would be him after what happened. “I can't get his scouter, can't reach him telepathically, can't even sense his ki! Even Vox's deep space scouter can't pick him up anywhere! My Raditz, he... He really left me. He's...Gone.”
And you feel her despair washing over you through the link, your daughter falling apart over not knowing what happened. You know that Raditz was getting away to fight whoever was after him, but didn't know he'd take such steps to disappear. Which makes you slightly worried, given how hard he covered his tracks on his exit: could he have been fleeing not from whoever was after him, but your daughter? Or, even worse, was Chaya the one behind everything? But for that to be true, he'd have to have knowingly lied to you about your daughter being the problem he's dealing with. And why would he do that?
