<span class="mu-s">RULES: THE GAME IS AFOOT!</span>
Sherlock Holmes: Consulting Detective is basically a hybrid board game and CYOA book.
<span class="mu-s">USING THE MAP:</span>
The murder site, 5EC, is circled in red (see top right).
Locations only matter for alibis; depending on resolution, I recommend using a real-life ruler on your monitor to measure distances. ALL speeds are the "same," ignore the idea of a character taking a taxi vs walking, etc.
For example, a character who was confirmed to be at Hyde Park (95NW) at 12PM could not have murdered someone at the Tower of London (14EC) at 1PM; it takes two hours to get between the two points. Differences are very rough; a 10-15 minutes' difference will not make or break a case.
<span class="mu-s">USING THE DIRECTORY:</span>
OP will serve as the London Directory. Besides people/businesses explicitly mentioned in dialogue, London is a big place. You can always ask OP to look up something, for example, if a diamond has been stolen, you can ask OP to look up pawn shops in the city. Or if Mr. Jones mentions he has a sister, you can look up "Jones" in the directory for any hits.
<span class="mu-s">HOW TO FOLLOW LEADS/INTERROGATE CHARACTERS/GATHER INFORMATION/ETC.</span>
Named characters and businesses enclosed in [brackets] constitutes a lead that can be followed. If you follow a lead, you will physically visit their home/workplace/the business in question and speak to them. Whatever they say is final, there are no further follow-up questions or additional information you can get. Think of it as going to page X in a CYOA book; from there you can only decide what page to go to next.
You can find leads outside of mentioned names by thinking outside the box; see "using the directory" above.
You, Wiggins, do not care about travel times and can teleport around the map at will.
<span class="mu-s">HOW CAN I PARTICIPATE?</span>
At all times, anons can choose to officially:
LOOKUP [name], ex. LOOKUP Sherlock Holmes, LOOKUP tailor shops
Look up the London Directory for whether a character/location can actually be spoken to or visited. If YES, I will provide their physical location(s).
FOLLOWLEAD [name], e.g. FOLLOWLEAD [Courtney Allen]
Visit location/speak to character. The same anon may not take the "FOLLOW LEAD" action twice consecutively.
ENDGAME
Depending on how many players there are, you can vote to end the game. At this time, anons will provide answers to a series of questions.
