The night's been long, and at times unpleasant. Productive, also, however. You're going to take the burnt scrap from Silas' little ritual back to your study and focus on that, for now. You don't want to come on too strong, even if you do feel there's something of a time crunch; escalating tension with Karloff's people could wind up being a real headache and a half.
You think you'll contact one of your other agents down here to collaborate on the next leg of this as well, however, but you won't jump on it as soon as tomorrow. The woman you have in mind has the rare talents and dedication to Syron you'll need to lace this up nicely and quietly.
With that decided, you start off towards the nearest crumbling office building. Something you appreciate about the undercity is that many of the residents are hesitant about moving into undisturbed buildings. They sometimes collapse or break, and more than a few poor souls have died under the dank rubble of a property they thought they'd claim themselves. The survivors down here have developed an eye for what can last, and methods for keeping things upright, requiring resources and cooperation from others, meaning that it's unusual to find a lone camp in a single derelict structure. More often it's encampments of forty or more individuals that all contribute to keeping their 'neighborhood' in one piece with a mix of labor and what little money they can spare for pooling together and buying whatever bits of steel or lumber are required for any particular maintenance project.
This is beneficial to you, because it means plenty of the old buildings are only half salvaged and largely vacant, especially the upper floors. That means lots of reflective glass and mirrors all over the subterrain, any one of them providing quick ingress or egress from this grimey underworld.
