>>6173676You decide to prioritize the formation of your new squad. The earlier you form up, the more time you can spend acclimating the group to working together as a single fluid unit. You stride through the many hallways and rooms of the now-Federation controlled Brisbane port base until you find Yunnus.
Greeting him with a sharp salute, he offers one in return and the formalities fade away as you smile at each other and exchange a firm and brotherly handshake.
"Congratulations on the promotion, sir." you say to your squad made turned CO.
"I should be saying that to you," Yunnus chuckles. "Two promotions? You'll be outranking me by the next mission at this rate."
"I'm honestly still not sure if I deserved it.. can I really lead a team when I've only got two missions under my belt? Will I know what I'm doing?" you say, your worries spilling out in front of a friend.
"Well, as your commanding officer, I order you to cease those thoughts at once!" Yunnus retorts loudly with confidence, before the smile returns to his face, his voice getting softer. "Believe in yourself, Jag. We all do. You performed miracles in Brisbane, and we all see what you're capable of."
"I... thank you, sir."
Yunnus smiles and pats your shoulder, before leading you to one of the nearby rooms. He opens the door, revealing a mountain of dossiers stacked high on the lone desk. "So, I assume this is what you're here for? These are all your potential squad mates. Read through these carefully and choose well."
"Uh, all that?"
"Yep. Most of these are soldiers who specifically requested to be transferred to your squad. Like I said, we all see what you're capable of. Good luck!" Yunnus says with a smile before returning to his duties.
You sigh, looking at the large stack of papers, and you sit down to get to work.
It takes you over an hour to read through every single dossier. It makes you a little nervous, wondering if you can really live up to their expectations and more importantly, keep them alive. An ambitious yet foolish goal you admit to yourself, being in the corps with the highest mortality in the army due to the fact that humans tend to have poor results when pitted against an 18 meter tall robots.
Nevertheless, you have a job to do and things to accomplish, and you've narrowed it down to four choices. Anti-MS squads traditionally consist of five people: A commander who keeps a clear head and tracks the situation to lead his squad through the mission, a support gunner who's sole purpose is to protect the team from anything that's NOT an 18 meter tall robot, and three specialists equipped with Reginas meant to take down the Zeek mobile suits. It's admittedly not a "tried and true" squad formation, the army's been playing it by ear since anti-mobile suit combat is still relatively new.
