The smell was the first and the most abundant thing that Lucian could ever think of as they ducked into the hole in the ground. His body wanted him to gag to try and purge the dreadful smell yet when he did the smell only became worse than before.
Upon his face, underneath the helmet he wore, was a cloth that was strung across Lucian’s nose and mouth which was soaked in something Adok did not want to talk of. It made the scent bearable and even allowed the Knight to breathe while amongst such muck.
Adok’s hammer glowed with a soft warm light. At the suggestion of both the Dwarf and Adolf they did not light any torches before walking into this area. They claimed that the place would explode in an instant because of the toxic air they were currently swimming in.
Lucian could not imagine such magic but deferred to their judgment. If there was sorceries like that in the world then he did not want to try Morr’s judgment on the situation. Death will come but one does not seek it out when they follow the Death God. Death will come, you only must accept it when it does.
“Well thats odd.” Adok said as he walked to the side and rubbed his hands on a wall, “There has been digging here recently. Claw marks…”
“Claw marks? Are there digging monsters in Bretonnia? Beastmen perhaps?” Adolf asked as he leaned in to look at the same thing the Dwarf was.
Lucian took the moment and looked around the place. His eyes studying the room as he began to notice something, “Has something been widening the passageway?” Lucian asked as his eye was caught on the wood, “Someone moved this post over.”
“Aye, its shoddy workmanship but someone has been working on these tunnels.” Lucian could see the nose of the dwarf twitch, “It stinks too much down ‘ere, I can’t smell em out. Best be on your guard though.”
Lucian heard a subtle click of metal coming from the Nobleman, the man’s hand reached for his hip before taking it off in the next second. Sitting there was some odd handle like this that the peasant knight had never seen before. He tried to remember in the past but was drained of all ideas of what it could be.
It was obvious though that by instinct the Imperial reached for it when the going was becoming tough. It was probably a weapon of some kind, but as to the reason he could not use it down here the Knight did not know.
