The closest thing anyone's been able to do for a primarch is basically create a brand new person that just has similar personality traits as the old one (Ferrus clones never agree to follow Fulgrim, the perfect Horus clone doesn't have his skill or intellect, the perfect Fulgrim clone wants to remain loyal not like current Fulgrim). These are the sorts of cloning tech Cawl/Fabius/Emperor had in stock to varying degrees of success, but even the clones of Cawls close dead friend who has all his memories does not see himself as Frederich but QVO#87 and a separate person.
It's the ability to displace our brain into a safe and secure location and then work through the world through a displaced body, that's what matters most. Either through our original, or if that is destroyed, an artificial body. Being able to craft a new body similar to our original is a plus, but not absolutely necessary. The mind is what matters, the body is replacable, as all Tech Priests are well aware.

Now of course, over vast distances, this would require a clear line of communication from our brain to whatever body or machine we wish to manipulate. That means either psychic connection (which is obviously risky and not ideal) or whatever technomancy allows the pharos/necrons to achieve instantaneous transmission across any distances. That would be better as it also would be resistant to psychic memetic viruses and other warp based attacks so our brain don't get burnt out by a sorcerer on the other side. This is also ideal because we can also ask the Custodes themselves to defend our brain.
This is the most ideal, because it preserves our soul. There are other methods of preserving the mind like Antigonus' Machine or the Proteus Protocol, but those are very much not ideal because they likely don't preserve the soul and in the case of the Proteus Protocol are rumored to cause some corruption.
