>Stay in the workshop and talk to Squid. You'd like to know how she's been coping with everything, and how the Dogs of War have been changing. She'll probably have more vital insights than Ryan. But apart from that, you just want to take some time to get closer as friends, and talk to her personally instead of only discussing business. (Write-in)
You pause by the door. Maybe you don't have to go check after all. Your partner can handle it, and even in a worst-case scenario where things turn violent, he can channel his Digivolution by himself. Unless there's a range limit between the two of you, of course. But it's not like he'll have to use a stronger form to fend off the other Rookies if violence arises.
"Actually- are you gonna be real busy with those tasks?"
"Hm? Not really, I can multitask." She says, already burying her nose in a device.
"Mind if I stick around then? We haven't gotten any time to catch up."
"I'd like that! Sure! I didn't get a chance to research Astamon either... I really wanted to, but things have been so busy over the past- has it been a month?"
"Almost, yeah. If he's not too tired, I can let you do some basic scans later."
"Yes! Thank you!" She beams, glancing back for a brief moment. Lumps of her orange hair bob happily as she fiddles with some kind of .app.
"It's the least we can do, you've already helped us out so much." You acquiesce.
"It's a welcome change from all the work. Wind needs a TON done for our next op. And I've had to create so many Digivices. I've got no time to upgrade any of them because of that!"
You glance at your Digimon Linker. It was a real stroke of good luck that you managed to trade it in with Doc. The prototype Digivices wouldn't have been as good for Phascomon's training, and the slightly better, but still blocky ones didn't have as many features.
"What are you guys doing next anyway?"
She inhales through her teeth.
"Mmm... I can't tell you that. Sorry. Ask him when he's back later."
"Yeah, no worries. Have you been holding up okay though? I don't know how close you were to the guys we lost..."
Squid puts her wrench down.
"I don't know."
