It seems he has an eating disorder that stems from several breakups during his school years and beyond until he graduated. But "rejection" is more accurate than breakup, as he never truly was able to forge any kind of relationship to begin with, and it seems this led him to letting himself go. All he has is his smarts. It seems he is undeniably intelligent, having graduated with honors at the top of his classes.
He appears to also be... well, autistic, in a way. He's prone to having fits when things don't go precisely his way. He seems to slam doors as a habit, and mumbles when around a lot of people. His own realization that he let himself go now makes him think the solution is distancing himself from others instead of working on his own issues. He greeted me with an eccentric personality but has now already went monotone with his explanations.
