Twink's lantern, bright enough to pierce into the omnipresent darkness, was chosen to lead the way. As you finally enter the Elf King's hall, you can sense the stillness, as though this place had not been disturbed since the fall of that ancient dynasty.
The lantern barely illuminates into the chamber. Even at its brightest with its hood most uncovered, the light from the flame seems swallowed by darkness. Twink, thinking laterally, tries something unusual. Placing a glass disc over the lantern's pupil- the light is turned from the red-orange flame into a more pure white light, which suddenly dispels the darkness much better- illuminating the wooden walls.
"Look at this- this is old Elvish. I can read this."
Tordynnar sees passages along the walls, and using his scholarly insight, he can translate.
<span class="mu-i">"In the beginning, all was light. And the luminous light came from within and out of every being. It was only after requested by his wife, did the King of the Dead create darkness. The tool with which to punish the Ancient Ones who refused to give us our rightful home. And the Ancient Ones, shrouded in this darkness, wandered to find each other- not realizing that they were being led astray. Finally, they became lost and then cast away from the world they had labored to create- a triumph over them by our 'er gracious King. But, even while lost, the Ancient Ones could look out and shine as bright as they could, and could look upon each other- and this is why today we know their names and faces- as we call them the Stars."</span>
Somebody coughed- and drew attention to the center of the room. At the back of the hall was the Elvish King, sitting on his throne, and atop his head was the <span class="mu-s">Starcrown</span>. It shone with a sort of spectral light that called to you, so very intimate and precious. You are finally here.
Who claims the crown?
