>>6169353Tears stream down his face as he continues,
"And then, that bitch showed up."
Bryta seems confused,
"Bitch?"
"This wasn't an ordinary monster. No way, this thing... It was smart, it could talk, it wasn't just a wild raging thing like all the others. It was cruel. Had a voice that was slick like oil, made your stomach churn just hearing it."
Bryta looks down, "Out of all the monsters the Nocturn Storms produce. It's said that only one in several thousand has the ability to speak. We call them the Ooze. Ooze class monsters can easily wipe out an entire team of magical girls if they're careless. Their corrosion is more powerful, and they know how to scheme."
"But, just knowing how to scheme, I mean that can't be-"
Mason chimes in, "It makes sense you would know. Of course, I figured it wasn't an ordinary monster either. I never heard one of them talk before. An Ooze huh? And Reese, you'd better believe that one knowing which end is up makes it more deadly. You ever wonder why these damn slimy bastards never melt the ground that's under em?"
Bryta nods, "Thats right. It's been common thought for a while now. That these monsters have the ability to control what they melt with their acid. With regular monsters, its pure instinct. But with an Ooze..."
Mason darkly finishes, "They're out to kill by choice. Thats what happened when it showed up. My brother, pushed me aside, told me to run. I got far enough away and watched. He managed to hit it a few times, then after that, his gun lost its charge. And it toyed with him before it consumed him."
He takes in a deep breath,
"It took a long time, to get over that. But I didn't have time for tears, I had a family, to take care of. And with the money we saved up, after that... We left the non-protected district."
You hug him. "I'm so sorry that happened Mason. I had no idea."
"Its... Alright, it's been a while now. Promise me, if you ever see one of those monsters that can talk... You won't try to fight it, you'll run right?"
"Y-yeah."
He forces a laugh and a smile. "Haha, that's my man. I should... Clean up the shop a bit. I hope you enjoy the armor Reese."
You nod.
"Of course. Mason... I'm here for you."
He smiles,
"You always have been."
