"You mean the bandits you happily sacrificed for some fat, ugly, noble bastard sitting in Westphalia? Why did you keep attacking after your first loss, if you thought we could be 'chums'? Why did you send those two beguiler chicks to assassinate me?"
"First off, the last few times I lead others to seize isolated Savant-fortresses, they fell easily. No reason this should've been different. Or so we thought." He chuckled. "Second off, that's just how we do business. Eventually, after making enough noise, we get hired. Thirdly, that wasn't on my orders. But they did have my blessings and moral support. Millie and Maddie wanted to make me proud while avenging their buds. Now they're both dead, and their sister is out there plotting to kill you." That sounded like another headache your way. "I wouldn't be too worried. She's a cunt, but she isn't too clever of a beguiler." He chuckled again. "Beguiler girls are cute, aren't they? From that little stunt made when stealing my permanently borrowed artifacts, I know you have one of your own-"
"Those are some weird last words your saying right now."
"Ha! Were you able to fix that watch?" He changed the topic without grace. "That thing is impossible to repair without Lunacy Savantae. Most artifacts are. Hell, if I'd been born in the Artificer class, I might've been able to put up more of a fight against Savants."
"Why didn't you use artifacts more often? Even without the pocket watch, you might've even been able to win if you'd just used the dagger."
"I have standards, Savant." Said he. "Unlike you, I like to fight fair."
"Which is why you had at least a thousand of your bandits invade my estate."
"Those are the ways of a bandit. Even of the most honorable and worthy one like me." He laughs. "But then again, I do have one last thing, one last act in my play, Savant. I have drunk some poison, and will die soon enough. So, you won't be able to capture me. Not the glorious death I wished for, but at least the history books can say I died from my own hands. As I'm sure you're quite sad about, Savant."
"I don't really care." While you didn't want to give him the satisfaction of a 'noble' death you'd honestly still be happy if he were dead and gone.
"You do. You care about all of my doings."
"I really don't."
"BUT YOU DO!" He was gonna say it's because he wasn't so different from you, wasn't he? "Because you and I aren't so different, John Doe." The grin on his face could almost be heard for what he doubtlessly thought was some sort of chill-inducing phrase.
"Fucking called it." You mutter under your breath.
"What?" Mel looks at you strangely.
"Don't worry about it." You tell her.
