You think you're asleep. You're not quite sure anymore, sleep has been a somewhat foreign concept lately. You stand up from the pitch black floor you were standing on. In fact, the whole area you're in is pitch black.
Except for a small glimmer of light in the center. Two figures surround it. The first figure is a skeletally thin man wearing nothing but rags. He reaches the ceiling with how tall he is. Cracks form all over his paper thin skin. A dark crimson tint covers his body.
He looks...tired. Not the angry tired but just tired. His mouth is wide and his eyes are dilated but it feels, frankly, forced.
The other figure is a short, stout man with a dark purple tint to him. He's adorned in an old outfit with various medals stapled onto it. A refined and reserved look rests comfortably on his face, like a well worn mask.
The two of them gesture at the bright light. You approach it. Something begins to build in your head...
A memory swirls in your mind. Something might be unlocked, a new part of you, if you can focus long enough on it. Just focus on it, Admin. You find yourself remembering...
>Shivering and starving in an abandoned District. You adjusted your bags and kept going. (You had to put food on the table somehow.)
>Capturing your first anomaly all by yourself. So many weeks worth of paychecks and planning. (It was a point of pride for you. Taming the unnatural.)
>Marching with a horde of comrades. Trying to stand for something brighter, better. (It was a fool's errand. You were simply outgunned.)
>Digging a shallow grave. You barely react as the woman jumps right into it. (If you can't help them, at least let them die the way the want to.)
>A furious argument. You can't remember the details. Everything was just RED. (Sticky, warm liquid coats your hands. Something runs down your face.)
>A hopeful smile. Was it yours? Was it his? Was it hers? It didn't matter. (Maybe the only reason you kept going.)
>Write in.
Due to how important this is, I'll keep it open for a day. I'll be finishing the other stuff while you linger on this.
