“Hold on, Dorothy, I’m planning on challenging Professor Bombastus to a cake duel. And I’d like you to take a bite to let him know how serious I am.” You grab the cake inside the box from Vanessa, who looked sad to see her child go.
“B-Be careful with it…” Vanessa is one overprotective mother… A mother willing to eat her children. You don’t think your metaphor has a leg to stand on anymore.
“Pardon me, is this the urgent matter that needs to be addressed as soon as possible?” Dorothy is doing everything she can not to rage.
“Indeed, it’s serious business, Dorothy. Treat as such.” Ulrich demands respect once again.
“Oh please…” Dorothy rolls her eyes. “A cooking duel? Something worth the Professor’s time? Give me a break.”
“But chasing ghosts is?” Ulrich retorts with some venom.
“I wouldn’t call them ghosts.” Marcela mutters to herself.
“You… How many times do I have to explain to you that we…” Dorothy’s ire is about to be awoken, but she stops herself from ranting. She closes her and takes a deep breath, only to glare at Ulrich upon opening them. “Still as narrow minded as ever.”
“I could say the very same thing.” Ulrich is laughing at Dorothy’s expense.
“Please, you two, no need to fight.” You look at Dorothy as you open the box to show her your new specialty. “I only ask you for one bite. If you decide it’s not worth the professor’s time after that, I won’t complain.”
“Why me? I don’t enjoy sweets, my opinion on its quality doesn’t matter.” Dorothy doesn’t even take a glance at your creation. “Not even the ones the Professor makes are to my liking, and as far as I know, they keep your store afloat, Lucremoola. I’ll just throw yours away.”
“Are you telling us you came all the way here and you can’t spend one second eating just a tiny bit of cake? Like a fraction? C’mon, who are you trying to trick? You have the time! Afraid you’ll like it?” Marcela is trying to push Dorothy’s buttons.
“I can assure you it’s worth more than one bite! You’re going to fall in love with it!” Vanessa pumps her fist to show her determination to the cause.
