Once Bella passes the two-factor authentication test at the gate, an on-duty member opens up the entrance to admit you. You glance inside. Things look quite a bit neater than the last time. Even the pile of scrap assets that they once left for Squid is gone.
Immediately, you’re accosted by a few members of the jamming team, led by ToyAgumon.
”Welcome back, Bella, Gazimon, and Marnie!” He chirps.
“Hi. Are you guys here to scan me?”
”That’s right. We need to see how compromised you are. Squid found a read-only backdoor to the city’s fugitive database. She can confirm whether you’re there.”
“Pfft.”
You look towards the source of the scoff. Sitting on a couch is the mohawk-sporting kid who you’ve developed a heavy distaste for.
“What?”
“Even you can get caught, huh?”
His Goburimon isn’t around, but the youth himself is as nasty as ever. Before you can think of a retort, the Jamming squad starts scanning you and requesting small packets of info. You oblige, knowing that you’ll be kicked out of here if you make a fuss.
“Huh!” Hannah exclaims. “You’re still clean for now. They’re not sending out any search requests.”
“That’s good. As long as I haven’t been caught in a partition without a VPN, I won’t be tracked automatically, right?”
“Correct.” She agrees.
“By the way, good job getting a Digimon. You’re juggling it along with jamming team duties?”
“Huh? Oh, yeah! How’d you hear about that?” She asks, surprise evident on her face.
“I saw you training with Palmon the other day.”
“You noticed?”
Hannah sounds self-conscious all of a sudden. She starts twiddling her thumbs and shuffling on the spot.
“Yeah. I’m taking on both responsibilities until we train up more recruits.”
The Goburimon guy scoffs again and leaves his seat. He heads towards the cafeteria.
