After the cooking class, you stay to help the teacher to help clean up the kitchen and take out the trash. You know you'll be late for the next class, but it doesn't matter. You are so starved, and want to stay around food.
When the teacher is not looking, you take your chance. You lick all the frosting and crumbs that are left behind. The sweetness of the frosting melts in your mouth, satisfying your hunger pangs that had been nagging at you all day. It's the perfect balance of creamy and sugary. The crumbs left on the counter are a perfect accompaniment to the frosting, and you savor every bite. Even though it's just a small taste, it was enough to quell your hunger for now.
Today, you feel a strange reluctance to face the day. You're drawn to the idea of exploring the common room and even consider starting a fire in the forest outside. You know you could leave the school if you followed your map, but you can't muster the energy. Instead, you spend the day in bed, staring blankly at the ceiling. As the evening approaches, you realize that you've accomplished nothing today. No studying, no training, no exploration.
You sit cross-legged on your bed in your dorm room. Closing your eyes, you take a deep breath and exhale slowly, letting your body relax. You focus on your breathing, inhaling and exhaling in a slow, rhythmic pattern. As your mind begins to clear, you start to think about various things that happened in the last few days.
The abandoned section of the school has been on your mind for a while now. Each time you ventured into it, you got lost, even though you carefully drew a map and marked your path. It was as if the walls themselves were shifting and changing, making it impossible to navigate. You wonder if the school was intentionally designed to be confusing and disorienting, or if something else is at play.
The more you think about it, the more convinced you are that the school doesn't follow Euclidean geometry. Perhaps, part of the school exists in another dimension, and that would also explain why there are strange creatures in the abandoned section. Maybe the school was built on top of an ancient burial ground, or maybe it had been constructed by some mad architect with a penchant for the occult. Jaq's book talked about the possibility of other dimensions and parallel universes. What if they're trying to access those, and it's causing all this chaos and strange occurrences? What if it's a failed CERN experiment that caused a dimension shift? The more you think about it, the more it seems possible. The possibilities are endless, and each one seems more terrifying than the last.
Intuition: You feel certain there's a dimensional anomaly in the school.
