[UNSTABLE] HEY. FOX-BASED AUGMENTS? CLOVER YOU SLY DOG YOU WANNA SEE YOUR GF'S OLD HOME, EH?
Even if it would be funny, you're not going there yet. Your goal is to find Seath. You can worry about sightseeing later. You fiddle with the unreality marble in the palm of your hand as you explain your plan to your allies.
"We're going to the Bellford apartment complex. If the map reads right there SHOULD be some high ranking D-Corp researchers there. Worst case scenario we get a lead on where he could be."
Clover shrugs, not showing any sign of disappointment at you ignoring the Ketsuk estate. "Sounds like a mighty fine plan. Sooner we're outta here the better."
[UNDYING CURIOSITY] "Well, who says we had to leave the moment we got him? We can do a bit of sightseeing! Look around, take in all of the misery around us! Who knows! Maybe we'll learn something!" You have a gut feeling she's trying a bit too hard here but you appreciate the enthusiasm.
Her body loosens up a bit as if she's getting rid of any subconscious tension in her body.
>MAX gains +1 TALENT! Her TALENT is now 5! MAX also gains 2% CHAOTIC SPARK progress!
"Misery? Weh?" Casey gestures towards the crowded streets filled with, well, miserable people. "I see a brand new market to spread our story too! We can bring light to these poor people-"
"And no, gotta stop you there." A WRONG ANSWER buzzer soundbite plays from Kiara's voicebox. "Maybe we can spread it to Seethe but I rather not be torn apart by a syndicate here and sold for scrap."
"Lead the way." Benjamin gently nudges you with his shoulder.
It takes a few seconds to even find a gap in the crowd so you could begin your trek over to the apartment. It doesn't get much better once you actually start walking towards it. Not because it's hard to read the map or the fact the crowd is about five seconds away from trampling you at any given moment.
It's the darkness hanging in the air. It has a physicality of it that makes every step taken a sluggish struggle. You would probably have an easier time walking through literal molasses than to do anything physically demeaning here. That's not the worst part of it though.
You can see it in your allies' eyes. A blurry, exhausted glaze that usually takes a soul-crushing 9-to-5 to achieve. When you babble out some nonsensical small talk the light returns to their eyes but they had you worry there.
Your own head isn't doing much better. You can think just fine but the smaller details are slipping through the gaps of your normally attentive mind. You'll just have to roll with it for now.
