>>5607307Soft jazz and cigarette smoke filled the air of The Blue Mare while lost souls and warm smiles filled its floor. Maggie had the spotlight on her, her lithe body swaying in a somber tone and her voice flowing through the floor while an experienced band played beside her.
“...The river always. Finds the sea.
So helplessly
Like you find me
We are. Paper boats floating on a stream
And it would seem
We'll never be apart…”

She gave him a warm smile, taking a seat next to him while flagging down a co-worker for a drink.
“Alan, it’s so good to see you. I’ve got your money in my dressing room.”
Maggie seemed happy to see the crewmember, even after he’d asked her for money but there was a spark of curiosity in her eyes.
“So… what’ya need the cash for?”
Alan dressed well for The Bluemare since even though he was close friends with the owner, he knew the place had a reputation to uphold. A smart jacket and dress pants, the outfit looked fashionable but somehow out of place on him.
He watched Maggie singing on stage as he nursed his overpriced drink, his eyes looking cloudy as he listened to the woman’s song. Whether it was out of captivation or boredom, only he could tell.
As the assassin sat down next to him, he returned her smile with one of his own, seemingly unperturbed by the question.
“Well I’ve decided to hire some detectives to help me look into something.”
"Ohh interesting, what types of things?" Maggie's voice was smooth like velvet as her curiosity peaked.
"Do you really have to know?" Alan replied
"Do you really have to keep it a secret?" Maggie fired back.
