I bowed my head again to him. He urged me to rise and go now, and so I was able to lift my feet after experiencing Obedience.
That was my first experience and meeting with a God of the Trinity. I am horrified to know that the Emperor would create a monster of dogma like him and let him loose on Hainei in some conceited, vainly perfectionist riddle to "discover himself", when in the same voice he hypocritically admits he was always going to end up this way thanks to the Emperor's will. Thandir had none of his own, it seems. Any half-normal creature would have rebelled against fate and defied this wicked Emperor's clear vision.
I thought in the back of my skull as Thandir became ever distant in these Lokas until he was gone completely, I would go on a voyage. I would find my purpose. It just will not be one of obeisance to the Yellow Tyrant. It will not be one of finding myself on some cheesy soul searching fueled by crazed religious influences. It will not be one in submitting to a grand design of universal arbitration.
It will be one of freedom. One of casting off the sacraments of despotism. One of defying fate and happiness in favor of seeking glory and Redemption.
Thandir cannot be Redeemed of how he feels, but he can be Redeemed of his deeds. He will see, when he is broken at my feet, the error of following his ways. He, and the Trinity will all see when I stride up the Tower of the Gods to Heaven and confront the Yellow Tyrant to save this world once and for all.
There will be no Forever Apocalypse by the design of the Dark One. And there will be no Great Rebirth by the demand of Huangdi. There will be a Hainei that can think for itself, decide for itself, and live for itself. A world where there is no longer people who take advantage of others.
Thandir, you will rue the day you decided to begin erasing souls from existence and denying them a peaceful afterlife and reincarnation.
I will make sure of it.
