“Very well.” Yule nodded in tired acceptance. It was admittedly easier said than done- save for their helmets and weaponry, Petrekoran soldiers looked near identical to Twaryian ones, with black baggy uniforms and cloaks, and the captured Petrekorans not only kept mum, but seemed unable to understand even the few Twaryian phrases that the odd soldier knew, let alone the much more fluent Lieutenant Wesker. Any encounter with them would be a process of discovery, and depending on their disposition, a potentially deadly process.
“Enough about them,” Haile declared with a smack of a swagger stick against the map on the ground, “They don’t matter in the grand scheme. Soldiers of Vynmark. I’ve had to keep quiet about this, but your most important objective here had to remain hidden from your knowledge until the very last moment.” She pointed above Kobberhus. “Last night, an airship was forced to make a crash landing at this location. Aerial scouts have confirmed that it is relatively intact, though obviously, the site has been seized by the Twaryians. Your primary goal is to reach this airship,” she tapped for emphasis on the location, “and recapture it and the surrounding ground, and to secure both it and any of its passengers and crew.”
Blank stares all around.
“…Pardon me?” Major Yule shook his head, as though clearing dust from his ears. “What of the town? Who or what is on this airship? This is the first I’ve heard anything of any airships.”
“You will know them if you find them,” Haile said firmly, not elaborating whatsoever on who they were supposed to be. “This town was evacuated days ago, they will be plenty obvious in not being Twaryians or Caelussians. I suppose Kobberhus’s recapture is necessary in a strategic sense, but priority is on the recovery of this airship and its occupants. They may have fled to hide in the surrounding villages and towns, it’s true, but they must be found.” A thwack of her stick on the ground. “High Command has also requested, as an important but lesser priority, I suppose, for two tasks. One, is that Kobberhus is likely to host, from the density of radio transmissions, at least a divisional command headquarters. This headquarters is either to be captured or destroyed, as we’ve caught them before they can fully evacuate. Such a disruption of their local command will surely result in a rout. The other objective is to capture all settlements along the railway, especially the northwest-most station. Simultaneous operations will be retaking ground to make that railhead in particular of great use in a counteroffensive.” Another whack of the stick. “Any questions must be brief and to the point! The very minute matters at this stage. Immediately prepare your units for assault if you’ve no queries Major Yule cannot answer for me.”
