Far too late, they turn back to Leomon, who's staggering to his feet with one arm held low. It's as though he's cradling it with the other fist, protecting his precious treasure and allowing power to coalesce. Energy swirls around him, forming a glowing ball of light and heat that causes his mane to billow majestically. He mumbles the name of his special attack, only to be interrupted by a high-explosive DCD grenade detonating against his body. You try to pull your gaze away from him while you run, but find yourself drawn closely to the supernova he's creating.

The smoke clears, revealing the dismembered Champion. The stump of his limb is held out protectively, leaking static at a heinous rate. His body is rapidly being converted to data, with the wounded gash crawling up his shoulder as his form falls apart. However, the other arm is intact. His charged attack has been allowed to reach its peak.

Despite their efforts to raise their shields, the massive burst of aura tears across them, searing both Hi-Commandramon and parting around them to destroy stray Commandramon with his bestial fury. It's as though he's putting every last ounce of his fighting spirit into the attack. One Commandramon's shield crumples, and he's blown away by the assault. The other one who countered with a shield bash stays strong, only collapsing to one knee once the orange light fades.
Leomon sways back and forth, his gaze tearing across the room and reaching you. You can't hide any longer. But there's no blame, nor sorrow in his expression. Only trust.

Without giving you time to respond, he disintegrates into chunks of blue data, his form giving way under the final surge of power. You didn't know him long, but for that entire time, he did nothing but his best. You wonder if you could have helped him if you'd come earlier, rather than allowing the fight to take such a poor turn without your input.
