[DEMHARUGH] "Umm, what were I thinking about again...? O-Oh, it must not matter that much. Ah, yes. Sire and madam? Tea now?"
'I want you to relax for the rest of the day, do something that's pleasurable to you, that isn't related to work. Just chill.'
[DEMHARUGH] "H... Huh?"
Even Eskart seemed surprised by my sudden suggestion.
'Can you do that? For me? If I ask it, you'd do as I ask and relax, wouldn't you?'
Demharugh got a bit of a pouty face with me then.
[DEMHARUGH] "Well... I should, normally, madam! But I'm already on the errand Lady Eikn has asked of me, aren't I? I cannot simply ignore her bidding to follow that of someone else. P-Plus, you're not my master. A good Fairy doesn't listen to people who aren't their master. Once a Fairy acknowledges someone as their master, that bond doesn't break until the master is either gone or abandons their Fairy."
'So, it's impossible for you to even simmer down a little?'
[DEMHARUGH] "Well, not exactly! That's not what I'm saying. Urh, besides, we couldn't bare to be still for so long and doing nothing, madam."
'Isn't that strange, however? What if you've already finished all the chores and there was nothing to do?'
[DEMHARUGH] "Well, then we'd just have to find more. Or make more. Not that I ever worry to run out of things to do. The Hall of the Wargod is always in need of dusting and cleaning to make it spiffy. And if I don't have anything to do there, I'll simply take my business to the castle of the king in the city below, where the Wargod goes to rule his mortal subjects on Hainei. Or, I'll even tidy up the Mead River halls for Ludwyhn! And-a-And floors and shelves and tables can never be too clean, madam!"
'So you'd continuously clean the same spot, over and over again?'
[DEMHARUGH] "At least then, it never gets dirty again!" She said, looking proud of such an idea.
'You make it sound like your kind are restless, Demharugh.'
[ESKART] "Do Fairies not get breaks?"
[DEMHARUGH] "Well, we sleep, sometimes. Why would we need a break?"
'All you do is work!'
[DEMHARUGH] "W-Well... so? If that's what we like, then what's wrong with it? We Fairies enjoy working, we enjoy maid work and serving our masters. Shouldn't we be allowed to do with our lives as we please?"
How can she not see that this is no life at all? How can be celebrative of the idea that she is a slave by choice to whoever wishes it? A free Fairy would soon find someone to serve, somehow. Fairies have indoctrinated themselves into their obsessive compulsions... Humans must certainly take advantage of them. I'm sure there are many Fairies who get along with their Human masters just fine, and many Humans who treat Fairies well, but Fairies will take any master they get... It makes me worry of how many Fairies out there right now across the world there are that must be getting abused by cruel people they can't help but serve. In places like Shengesia and Yongesia...
