“I think that’s about all the questions I had for you. My good man, this interview was helpful.” he compliments.
“But will it be enough to stop those warpigs in parliament?” You ask.
“The better question to ask is, is anything capable of stopping them?” he laughs as he walks over to you.
“I’ll leave you to your business now, but as a show of courtesy for your cooperation, here-” He takes out a notepad, scribbles on it and hands it to you, you take it and see his number on there.
“That’s my personal number, any significant developments in the case and I’ll inform you and if you recall or find anything that can help us build a case, call me and send it my way would you?” He winks at you.
“I might just do that…” You feel strangely creeped out.
“Oh and one more thing-” he takes the interfacing device you were handed earlier from his coat.
“Where exactly did you get this device from?” He asks.
“That? Cracked mask gave it to me. Said it was a parting gift from Landon.” You answer.
“Oh is that so?” He gives you a curious look.
“Well no matter, here you are.” he hands it to you.
“What? You’re just giving this to me?” You question.
“It’s your property is it not? We found it on your person when we discovered you.” He answers.
“Well yeah but considering where it came from wouldn’t you want to take it away for evidence or something?” You ask.
He chuckles, “My good chap Okabe already explained what the device is to me and we had forensics scrub through the device as well and they didn’t find anything suspicious or useful inside of it.”
“Or--pardon me-- they did find evidence that some software and a few files that were stored in its memory but they’re hidden behind cryptographic keys so complex that not even our top security analysts could breakthrough it.” He adds.
“Cryptography? What the hell could be so important about this little thing…?” You look closely at the unpowered device.
“Perhaps it contains some clue key to the solving of Mr.Landon’s mortal departure? Or maybe it’s lewd material that Mr.Landon stored away never to be seen again by human eyes.” He laughs.
“Either way, we don’t have the time or resources to invest in finding out, perhaps you do though?” He hands the device to you.
You nod, “Well if level of tech is the problem, I think I know someone who can handle it-” You look to Okabe, “Okabe, can you bring this device to Etheline?” You say as you hand it to him.
“You want me to deliver this?” He questions.
“Send it over to her when you get the chance. I’ll call her and tell her what I want her to do with it later.” you answer.
