You run the odds over in your head over and over... and eventually you realize that... if you keep debating between whether you recruit this seeming wildcard... the more you aren't going to do ANYTHING. Analysis paralysis is a mire, and the longer you sit in it, the deeper you sink.
So you decide it's only fair to do what you always do... which is, well nothing.
At the very least if you want this new recruit you can do that AFTER you prove yourself with this job... You can always kick the can.
You finally meet Rhodes, the bearded construction worker sitting in the same gravel pit you slept in before (Why always gravel?). He waves as you head over. "So you are the one taking the job? Didn't think you had it in you."
"W...what's that supposed to mean." You bristle a bit, your hair literally raising slightly thanks to your spectral blight association.
He raises a hand. "Nothing rude, you just were very dismissive of work before, had a whole speech about it... so its a bit strange you changed your mind roughly 4 hours later."
Oh. "Well... I need money for cake. And I am hoping that with this short job I can avoid doing work later." You sigh. "Its not like EVERYONE can do NOTHING, I mean someone has to bake the cake and mill the flour, I just... would rather limit my unnecessary labor... this isn't unnecessary."
He chuckles. "Guess I underestimated your sweet tooth." He hands you a box. "Heres the Junior Explorer kit. Don't bother trying to dig under the walls, everyone thinks they can, but well..." He shrugs. "It goes really badly, pokeballs get disabled, Dugtrio collapse the tunnels... No one's escaped so far, but a few've died trying..." He smiles pleasently. "But you'll know when you start digging too far, so no worries about accidental damnation... you know how these things work right?"
You shake your head. "No.' You open the box and put the hard hat on. "But Sandman does."

The Prison Underground is rather... damp for a tunnel. The air is far cooler, and the dark tunnels wind around the heavy metal pipework of the sewage system. Which is filled with feralligators to hunt escapees. You suppose the tradeoff of all the freedom you have is that they are willing to just kill you to justify keeping it.
Sphere hunting, from what youve been told is rather simple. The "Spheres" are actually gems that grow here... which is weird, but essentially if you find a few already growing you can replant them and get a bigger payout later, in addition to the harvest you get now. Apperantly Spheres are used to make TM disks so they are quite valuable.
The question is where to look?
>Focus along the pipework, filled with water and poison type pokemon but they may have more discarded treasures then just spheres
>Focus along the outer rims of the grounds, not to escape but... well the easy stuff should have been taken already, your odds are better on the Outside
>Go down to where the rock and fire types are, literally down,
>write in
