>Talk to the landlord about what he knows...
You nod your head at your two allies before approaching the landlord. They get the hint and follow after. Now that you're close to him, you notice something off about him. His skin tone is grey, just like the rest of the environment you've seen in this district. Reminds you of a black and white cartoon.
He doesn't notice the three of you, still engrossed in the magazine. All you're willing to make out is a model named "Kate" is a prime star for some reason.
You're tempted to use your telekinesis to send that damn thing flying out of his hands but, no, not now. Maybe if you had more VIOLENCE.
"Excuse me, sir?" You tap on the dreary wooden desk he's sitting behind.
"Mmh. Praise the Father, blessedth be his name. Do you have your rent payment?" It sounds like he's reading off a poorly written script.
"We're not here for your religious stuff, man." Lex grumbles.
"Sorry, sir, it'll only take a minute." Alexis speaks with a low, calm tone. The landlord glances up at Alexis. His eyes light up as he puts the magazine away. "Oh! No problem miss, I apologize! I was, uh, distracted, yes. Busy day."
You look over at Alexis, actually taking a closer look at her. Long blonde hair, well kept business suit, a soft smile...doesn't look malnourished and actually has a decent body?
Yeah. No wonder why.
"What's the matter? Did your boyfriend run away or somethin'? If you got a name, I can check." You and Lex grimace at this display. "You know, for a lady in need."
"Oh, I am looking for a certain man tonight." Alexis leans forward. "Perhaps you can help me find him. Does Benjamin Aaron ring a bell?"
The landlord's good mood instantly deflates. He sinks into the chair with a sour look. "What about him? I didn't think some bimbo would be into him."
Alexis closes her eyes and lets a deep sigh out before putting on a smile. "I do apologize. Perhaps later, we can talk more...privately." She winks. "You see, we're concerned that he hasn't shown up to our gatherings lately. He does live here, correct?"
"Yeah, yeah. Fuckin' night owl, never really saw him much. What do you want me to say?" He shrugs. "We didn't really talk much. He paid his rent and he would fuck off to his room."
Alexis steps away from the desk, mulling over what to say, before snapping her fingers and returning to the table. "Well, we heard rumors that he's gone missing."
"So? Why should I-"
"And if you can't help us find him, that means you have one less person paying rent here. Which means..." Alexis lets the Landlord finish the statement in his mind.
"...Shit. I don't have many people left, I kinda n-" He coughs, stopping himself from saying too much about his situation.
"Well, sir, we're trying our best to find him!" You chirp out, adding yourself to the conversation. "If you can help us, that'll be really nice, you know?"
"Fine, fine. I'll tell you what I know." You got him talking, time to listen.
