The quaint, clean decor inside betrays the foreboding buildup of getting here. A genuine attempt was made by some good, and honest, people to make the place seem reputable. Even the many, less then desirable, denizens of this establishment seem to have made an effort to look above their station. All are of the type that should know the importance of minding ones own business. Even so, You and Yuki make an odd couple. Its impossible not to feel a few sideways glances dissecting your intentions. Despite the rain forcing everyone inside, there is a place for you and Yuki to sit.
When an elderly man, who you remember to be both the owner and server, comes from the back room and spots you it is clear that he isn't all too happy to see you. Not from his expression, as it has become too wrinkled with age and sun exposure to ever betray an expression, but because he picks up a broom before coming over. You remember that broom, and you recall how well the old man seems to able to wield it. You begin to stand in order to better defend yourself, but Yuki interjects on your behalf.
"Hold friend! What seems to be the problem?"
"Bah, I told this vagabond should he ever return here I would turn him inside out. I'm not about to be turned into a lair!" The man may be all gums, but he still has some bite in him.
Despite that, Yuki does an extremely good job calming the old man down. He doesn't hold back anything, and outright explains who he is and who he works for. Coming right out and giving his title as an investigator causes about half of the patrons to quietly exit the establishment over the next ten or so minutes. The owner on the other hand seems ecstatic, or so you assume by his tone. He thanks Yuki for his hard work and points out a picture of the previous emperor that sits above the kitchen entrance. The old man is from a bygone era, a supposedly better time. Yuki asks him if he has time to speak with him about an investigation, which he is happy to agree. Anything to serve his royal majesty and country. He simply needs a moment to finish his rounds with the other patrons, and then he will come back. In the mean time, he serves Yuki some complementary Sake.
When the old man leaves you reach over to take serving yourself, but Yuki picks up the carafe and places it further away form you. Indicating that he has no intention of sharing. He leans over and whispers
"This is the place you ransacked? The man is ancient, have you no shame swordsman?"
"I broke a plate or two. You have to understand, I was very very drunk." you search for a better explanation but can't. "Its TWO MON" If that doesn't make him understand nothing will.
