>Argue Commander Fabian’s side, taking sides in this conflict, or even fighting against other clones. You can’t take up arms against the men you’ve fought with and bled for, or against men who believe in The Republic.
Fisher is scowling now, while Yegor has a slight frown. Both passionate men who’d fight and die for The Republic. And, perhaps, each other. But you can’t let them continue on like this, entrenching themselves in opposite positions.
“We need to uphold the Republic! Chancellor Organa is that Republic now, and we must respect that. Or are we to follow some military junta instead?”
“Not when the jedi are the ones pulling the strings! Damn you, we can’t sit by and let it be subverted!”
“There’s no proof of that! Skywalker and you are in the wrong, can’t you see that?”
“The jedi started this war. And now they’ve ended it by killing the Chancellor! From my point of view the jedi are wrong!”
>No.
They both turn to look at you, shocked by your sudden interjection. You feel a moment of hesitance, then push on.
>It doesn’t matter who’s right or wrong. Who’s really for The Republic, or against it. Not if we’re being forced to choose between that and our brothers. Our comrades. Our friends. Commander Fabian’s right. We can’t be fighting each other. Look at you. Two friends, arguing. Tomorrow you’ll probably go your separate ways. But what then? Killing each other on the battlefield? Killing men you’ve trained with, and fought with? And not just you, but the troops under your command as well. Why not shoot each other now and spare your men the trouble?
You can feel the emotion slip into your voice, the doubt and the worry. What side to take? Who to choose?
Yegor raises his hand, as if in reassurance. “Commander Sulla…”
>I’ve been fighting this damned war since Geonosis. Never once complained. I’ve done my duty, fought for The Republic without hesitation for 3 years. But this? Taking up arms against men I’ve fought with, and bled for? Against men who believe in The Republic as passionately as any other clone? We’re clones, dammit! We think the same, we feel the same. We can’t let that divide us. We can’t fight each other for it. I can’t let what started on Geonosis end in… clones slaughtering each other.”
