>>6329275While attacking the Knights of Seiros hardly sat right with you, it was not your place to judge Pyrrho. His was a war you could not fathom, having stretched on for centuries. In a way, a part of you could respect that he had not given in to despair. That he was still willing to fight to further his own ambitions and goals, despite the immense loss that he suffered, was in some part commendable, even if it was your own kind he’d fought against. So long as Cyril or anyone back home ever discovered that you’d helped him out here, you saw no harm in the matter.
Dropping the matter, you quickly fall asleep. Every part of you was sore, and your body was in desperate need of a deep rest. You lay your head back and fall into slumber, the day’s battles still fresh in your head. You’d gotten a glimpse of the power of the tournament’s top two contenders, and you now had a better idea of the heights you would have to reach in order to beat them.
“Hey, wake up.”
Pyrrho gently kicks you in the ribs. Groggily, you rub your eyes and come to a sitting position, letting out a great yawn. You always slept well after a hard fought battle. Perhaps it was the Goddess’ blessing, or maybe it was just your youth, but you felt greatly refreshed following your deep sleep. You look up towards the Agarthan, who hovers over you in a disapproving manner.
>“How long have I been asleep?” “Twelve hours.” Pyrrho scoffs. “You have two left. The others have already begun to reach the top floor.”
Oh shit! You scramble to your feet in a panic. You always were a deep sleeper. A pleasant aroma hangs in the air. Crowley sits at the table, a cup clutched tightly in both his hands.
“Hey, The Sorcerer King had coffee!” He says cheerfully. “You ever had this stuff? I know Fodlan is bigger on tea, but-”
>“Why didn’t you both wake me sooner?!“You looked like you needed your sleep.” Crowley says, hurt by your outburst.
“I was distracted.” Pyrrho says. “Xenophanes’ writings have been a great source of-”
>“Cram it. Bigger matters to worry about right now. You said people have already started making it to the top?”“Leonora and Arios arrived first.” Pyrrho says. “Followed by the trio of Saoirse, Uriyan and Butch. There are four more contenders still making the climb, but they are only on Floor 31. As it stands, they may not make it in time.”
>“We should get out of here. Now.” You say to Crowley, who offers you that cup of coffee. You actually hadn’t had this before, though apparently it was popular with some nobles in the capital. You take a sip, recoiling at the bitterness. Nasty stuff. You’d take tea any day over this dark substance. At least you felt somewhat more alert.“I will adjust the warp panel accordingly to bring you to Floor 39. You’ll just need to walk in from there.” Pyrrho says, tapping away at the console.
